Lee Taft- Multi-Directional Speed Concepts & 7 Fundamental Patterns

The 7 fundamental patterns set the stage for multi-directional speed. Having great fundamentals will give you the path necessary to be more versatile in what you do. Lateral shuffles being one of the seven fundamental patterns is a great exercise to challenge your core as you strengthen your hip abductors, quads, calves, hamstrings, and glutes. The seven fundamental patterns include linear acceleration, sprinting, lateral shuffle, lateral run, backpedal, hip turn, and jump.

An athlete's most important skill is the ability to read their environment as well as discover and solve problems that arise. Having mastered the seven patterns can certainly help you by providing the tools necessary to make the proper adjustments to your environment and the problems that come your way.
