    • This is the explanation of the 1-2-2 halfcourt press.

       

      The top player is your most athletic, long, or quick player -- anyone who will be able to pressure the point guard while forcing them to choose a side of the floor.

      The middle two players are usually guards who are aware and able to keep the ball in front of them. They will be the ones engaging in the trap with the top player.

      The back two players are usually 4s and 5s -- bigger players who will act as a safety net and talk to their teammates in front of them.
