Lesson 7:
Handling
The ground scoop uses the 'ramp'.
Secondary Cover- Having the body back up the hands.
Belly Button- A basket cushions the ball.
Front Smother- Balls coming in around the mid-shin level.
Shoulder height- Hands behind the ball in the contour position.
High balls- Square the body to the ball and secure the ball in front of the body. This is the high contour position.
Tip: These handling skills are a very important for goalie training because they teach the players how to properly stop shots coming directly at them.
