Ball control is not just a skill,
but a relationship with the ball
1.1 Why is ball control practice so important?
The most important aspect of ball control is becoming friends with the ball.
Ball control isn't just controlling the ball well, but establishing a relationship with it.
The movement may not be perfect every time, but with continuous practice, you will gradually understand:
| 🏐 Which position to hit | 💪🏻 How much force to use |
| ⏱️ When to hit the ball | 🤾🏻♀️ What speed to swing your arm |
This understanding cannot be learned by watching videos or memorizing movements as everyone's physical condition, rhythm, and feel are different,
Ball control ability can only be developed through repeated actual contact, gradually becoming "familiar" with it.
This is precisely the true value of ball control training—building connection by repeated experience.
When you have enough time with the ball, you are no longer just "performing movements," but begin to know: "If I hit it this way, the ball will go this way."
Over time, you'll naturally move the ball in the direction you want it to go.
Ball control is actually about practicing how to "response", but not "perfection"
A crucial principle in these exercises is—keep playing even when the ball isn't in your expected position.
Don't stop to catch the ball; don't start over because of one misstep.
Remember: perfect situations are really rare in a match.
Of course, we should strive for perfect movements, but more importantly, we should be able to do things even in imperfect situations.
This ability is what truly leads to consistent performance and continuous improvement in matches.
1.2 Why is this set of exercises suitable for solo practice?
When you practice alone:
When you can establish this relationship with the ball, you'll become more consistent and confident in defense, landing, serving, passing, and even attacking.
