    Batting: Horizontal and Vertical shots

     view description
    • The game is played in a ground that is 70 meter in circumference, and runs can be scored any part of the ground. There are bonus for runs that are scored beyond the perimeter. The runs that are scored from bat are called scoring shots and they can be ones, twos, threes, and so on. To earn a run one has to finish the 22yard distance of the pitch(both striker and non-striker) either by hitting the ball or by missing the hit and stealing a run-  it can be a single run or a double or more runs(run back and forth).   However one has to be careful of fielders when taking a run – A fielder’s job is to stop you from taking runs. He is allowed to collect the ball and break the stumps that are you running towards, either at striker’s end or non-striker’s end. There are 11 fielders(including bowler and wicket-keeper) who are allowed to dismiss you and run you out.

Batting

Intro to Batting : One has to hold the bat with one or both hands and stand in front of the stump. Its called the stance. A stance is subjective to 3 sticks (stumps) that are placed behind you. You need to stand in front of it. The three stumps are off, middle, and leg. One has to stand on leg stump so that one is aligned with the line of the throw(bowling) which comes from approx. 22 yards.
