Lesson 10:
The Change Drill
In this segment, Coach Marshall introduces the Change Drill, a high-intensity exercise designed to sharpen transition defense and game-like decision-making. Players start in a half-court setting, but when the coach yells “Change,” the ball is dropped immediately, and offense turns into defense. The twist: players cannot guard the same opponent who was guarding them, forcing quick communication, recognition of personnel, and rapid defensive rotations. With the scenario framed as being down two points late in a game, every stop matters—teaching athletes how to compete, protect the paint first, and win through defense.
