Biography for Major General Greg Chaney:
Major General (MG) Gregory P. Chaney serves as the Deputy Adjutant General for the Texas Army National Guard, the largest Guard of the 54 U.S. states and territories. MG Chaney is the principal advisor for all Army matters to The Adjutant General, Texas. MG Chaney enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard in 1987 as a combat engineer. The following summer he received a commission as an Engineer second lieutenant from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. His service includes deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iraq. For a decade, he served as a traditional National Guard officer while teaching and coaching in Abilene later transitioning to full time duty in uniform.
MG Chaney’s formal military education includes the Engineer Officers Basic and Advanced courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff course. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a Master’s of Science in Education. In 2013, he graduated from the U.S. Army War College with a Master’s in Strategic Studies. MG Chaney resides outside of Abilene in Merkel, Texas with his wife Angie.
