Drill #15 - The Kick Back Drill

     view description
    • This hitting drill focuses on keeping your front shoulder in when hitting. Opening up your shoulder could be your problem if you are having too many swings and misses, if you are rolling over on a lot of balls, or if you find that you are getting aroundor not staying inside the baseball. Opening up your shoulders actually causes many different problems with a baseball swing, and this drill can help overcome that bad habit. You can handle more pitches and do a lot of things when you keep your front shoulder from pulling off of the baseball.

This drill also gets your weight shifted in an unorthodox way to your front side. If you have trouble sitting and spinning on your back leg this drill may be helpful. These two issues usually go hand in hand. If your front shoulder opens up too quickly usually you are not properly transferring your weight from your backside to your front side. This drill will tackle both issues.
