  • Lesson 2:
    Wall Transfers

     view description
    • What/Why: A drill used to help develop hand eye coordination and to improve the consistency and speed of transfer from glove hand to throwing hand. Improving this transfer will increase our chances of getting the first out on a double play and in turn increase our chances of turning a double play. This will also help our catchers have more chances to throw runners out.

Who: This drill is especially useful for middle infielders and catchers but can be done by all position players.

Where: Anywhere a wall or partner is present.

      When: Pre-season/in season.

      How: Demo in video.

Coaching cues: When supervising this drill make sure athletes are making the catch and transfer every time. If they are not the typical cause is that they are going too fast. If they are still having trouble remove one ball from the drill and try again. If athletes are getting a good grasp of the drill have them move forward and backward simulating faster and slower feeds.
