Lesson 5:
Early Off-Season Modified + Youth Template
This video explains how to organize a football practice when youth and older kids cannot mix under CIF rules. Splitting the field into two separate sides with coaching staff working independently, including a 7-minute movement prep and a longer 1.5-hour practice on one Saturday where older players did 10 minutes of EDD work while youth did defensive EDDs. After offense and defense switch, the older group runs defensive EDDs, run fits, and DB concepts with a tackling circuit and seven on seven, while youth complete offensive EDDs, run concepts, and run to win. Hydration periods are added for youth, and the setup requires about three-six coaches total to cover specific position groups.
