Lesson 2:
#2 on Bubble (read)

The first read we install will be vs the Bubble of 2. As soon as #2 works horizontal and is a threat to the Flat, the WS will make a "Wheel" call and the Corner will come off of 1 and he now has the Wheel of 2, meaning he has #2 out and up. The WS now is Man vs 1 and is not fooled by the fake Bubble and Go because he is expecting 1 to go vertical and we practice this extensively. I have the Corner drawn up in Press alignment, but he can play 2 Read from Off as well. My Corners in 2015 weren't confident enough to play Press, so the film clips will be shown with Off coverage.
2 Read coverage is great vs the RPO/Screen game as it gives us the rules to control the Bubble Screen and Screen & Go with just two defenders, allowing us too free our Slice player to defend the run. This is especially important to the Field, as our $ (Strong Safety) is able to play closer to the box in 2 Read, as opposed to regular Quarters where we usually have him outside leverage of 2 to play the Bubble. The Corner now has the Bubble in 2 Read so the $ does not have to chase him and he can play closer to the box and help defend the run if the ball is handed off.

I will show you how to install 2 Read coverage with film of how to defend the possible route combinations, allowing you to defend the Screen/RPO Game as well as anything in the Passing Game. 2 Read allows Defenses to read the release of the #2 WR and to adapt the coverage to play as Quarters or Cover 2, depending on what the #2 WR does. This gives us the best of both worlds and allows our DBs t...
