Lesson 11:
Line in the Cage – Trapping & Interceptor Drill
This lesson focuses on the “Line in the Cage” defensive drill, designed to sharpen trapping, communication, and rotations. Three defenders in the middle work against four offensive players spaced in a square, with two defenders trapping the ball and the third playing interceptor to deny passes. Players practice reading the ball swing, closing out aggressively, and forcing deflections while maintaining discipline and intensity. This drill builds the habits of team-oriented pressure defense essential to an effective press system.
