Second Trap & Closeout Drill
This lesson develops the second trap in the full-court press and reinforces defensive toughness through closeout and sliding drills. Players first learn to anticipate the pass out of the initial press and apply pressure at the half-court “second trap” with strong-side and weak-side rotations. The focus is on sprinting ahead of the ball, cutting off penetration, and sealing passing lanes. The session then transitions into a conditioning-based closeout and slide drill, where players defend multiple sequences, emphasizing footwork, hand placement, and staying disciplined while recovering. The combination builds habits of relentless pressure, hustle, and defensive endurance.
