    • I recommend that you start off with the Sun Salutation A (Low Lunge Variation) first, to warm up your body and then proceed with this mini class.

"Imagine your new sense of self if you regularly felt more grounded, nurtured and centred." This mini yoga clip, Late Summer Yoga is part of a class by Martine Ford of Spirit Yoga on the jetty at Queen’s Lake near Port Macquarie in Australia. Demonstrating around 10 of 20 yoga poses from the book – Late Summer Yoga: 20 poses for the Stomach and Spleen Meridians. This is available on Amazon through Kindle for just $3.99 USD at the following link, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B1709BU

According to the Chinese Five Element theory, the body is made up of the same five primary elements that exist in nature -- Wood, Fire, Metal, Earth and Water. Each of these elements links to different organs, and affects us physically and psychologically.

In late summer the earth element is strongest, so activating the meridians (energy channels) of the spleen and stomach brings balance to these organs, and provides us with the ability to feel nourished and grounded.

An imbalance is associated with worry, anxiety and overthinking. Worry will cause stagnation of energy (chi) in the stomach and may manifest with a niggling, burning pain, belching and nausea.

Great fatigue, a feeling of neediness, and a lack of desire are symptoms of disturbed spleen function. Other signs of imbalance are anxiety, nervousness, feeling alienated, unconfident, rejected, as well as repetitive thoughts and worry.

Spirit Yoga classes mostly use traditional yoga poses and some yoga therapy exercises that are based on bringing energy (chi or prana) to the meridian channels located through-out the body. Late Summer Yoga will bring balance to your body and life during the transition of seasons, particularly during Late Summer.

Late Summer Yoga is part of the Yoga for the Seasons Series, other books in the series are: Spring Yoga, Summer Yoga, Winter Yoga and Autumn Yoga. Yoga for the Seasons e-Books are available on the Spirit Yoga website through Amazon's Kindle Platform.
