You put your strategies for plays in there of course. They are your ideas on how to handle the opponent’s players with yours.
Three main other sources of information:
Your competitive identity - who your team wants to be in competitions
Your tactical model - how you would like to win games
Your athlete’s skill - what they are able to do once the season begins
These also inform decisions around your practice plan, see my other course.
Finally, you have to think about teaching the plays, to other coaches, and to your athletes. It is only during this last step when you need to think about “technology” or the format of your playbook. Use pen and paper for everything before.
