    Bucknell University Summer Training

     view description
    • I get asked a lot what I do with the athletes at Bucknell.  So I posted this video of a circuit training workout that we just did.  The video was shot over two separate training sessions but the circuit was the same.  It is not a sports specific training session and you will see athletes from the wrestling, volleyball, track, field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer teams participating at the same time. What you will see with this circuit is that it is a non-traditional exercise circuit.

I ran it so that each station the athletes worked hard for 30 seconds; they got 15 seconds of rest before they started the next station.  It was a total of 10 stations.  I ran them through two full circuits and then they got a 4 minute rest and then we repeated it again for a full two circuits.  This was the circuit:

      A-1:  Alternating Rope Whip
      A-2:  Walking Tire Sled Drag
      A-3:  Rope Climb
      A-4:  Chain Push-ups
      A-5:  Rope Scapular Retraction Variations
A-6:  Odd Object Pick-up or Odd Object Cleans
A-7:  Hammer Strength Leg Raise Variations
      A-8:  Seated Box Hop
A-9:  Alternating Step Kettle Bell Swings
      A-10:  Tire Flip

Before the circuit started they each went through a Jump & Speed workout, did Weighted Core Work, and Injury Prevention Exercises.  After the circuit was completed the athletes went through a series of Band Stretching Exercises to increase flexibility.

I hope you enjoyed the series of video clips of our athletes getting it done.  This is not an easy circuit but these athletes have been training hard this summer to prepare for their upcoming sports seasons.  In the end they did a volume of 40 exercises from the circuit alone.

Feel free to post a comment about these athlete’s training regimens and go to www.bucknellbison.com to see the schedules of these athletes for the upcoming seasons.
