Samuel "Scott" Carter - PNG HS
Scott Carter is the head baseball coach at Port Neches-Groves High School in Port Neches, Texas. He is married to Bridget Harty Carter, of Winnfield, La. and they have two daughters, Chelsea Milian a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University and Candyce Carter a 2014 graduate of Lamar University. Coach Carter has two grandchildren, Reagan and Carson Milian of Montgomery Texas. Coach Carter played college baseball at Grambling State University and Henderson State University where he graduated in 1986. He played high school baseball at Weston High School in Jonesboro; La. Coach Carter was a member of the 1977 State Championship Baseball team and the 1980 State Runner up Baseball team. Coach Carter was an all-district and all state catcher in high school. Coach Carter has been coaching for 36 years and has been a head coach for 33 years. He has put together a record of 619 wins and 257 losses in Louisiana and Texas. Coach Carter’s teams have been in the playoffs 26 times. They have competed in the regional quarter finals 10 times; the regional finals 5 times and he has 3 state championships to his credit from 1992, 1993 and 2017. He was also at the State Tournament with Sweeny High School in 2012. Coach Carter has been named coach of the year at the district, parish/county, and state level. He has also been honored as the head coach at the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association all-star game in 2005 and assistant coach in 2008 and again in 2018. He was also selected as a Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association all-star coach in 2009. Coach Carter may be one of the few coaches to hold baseball state titles in Louisiana and Texas.
