The Coach

Coach Steven Trout is the head baseball coach at Texas State University, where he has established the Bobcats as one of the premier programs in the Sun Belt Conference and across Division I baseball. Since taking over the program, Trout has guided Texas State to multiple 30+ win seasons, including a historic 2022 campaign where the Bobcats set a school record with 47 wins, captured the Sun Belt Conference Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament—coming within one game of the Super Regional.

A former standout player at TCU and later at Texas State, Trout transitioned seamlessly into coaching, bringing experience from both the collegiate and professional levels. Known for his emphasis on offensive execution, player development, and building winning culture, he has mentored numerous athletes who have gone on to professional baseball careers.

Coach Trout’s leadership is defined by his ability to create buy-in, prepare his teams with discipline and attention to detail, and foster a competitive environment where players thrive. His track record of success, both on the field and in developing young men, has made him one of the most respected coaches in college baseball.
