5-Out Motion Reads and How We Drill
What is 5-0 motion?
When a five-out offense is used, each player starts out on the perimeter. Within this offense, there are five places that must always be filled. A spot can only be left empty if the player is screening or cutting.
Using the 5-Out Motion Offense is best for a team where every player on the floor is proficient at basic skills, such as dribbling, passing, cutting, screening, and scoring. This is important to the offense's success because it eliminates positional constraints.
Oklahoma's 5-0 philosophy is having an uptempo style in both the full court and half court. Having the starting five being a scoring threat on the floor, relying on the players versatile skill sets to make the 5-0 motion work properly. As well as being able to make decisions and make reads in the fast break offense and full court.
Running a 5-0 motion offense creates another tool in the coaches toolbox if done properly. Making it difficult for the opposing team to guard a versatile team. Learn how to run a 5-0 motion offense today. Introducing Oklahoma’s head coach Jennie Baranczyk program..
