Brooke Brittain has taken a unique path in her basketball journey, as it was mixed in with her service in our Armed Forces for over 20 years as an Army Reservist in the Military Police Corps. Brooke was deployed to the Middle East as a Military Police officer 3 times in her military/basketball career: Once, causing a break in her collegiate playing career and twice causing a break in her coaching career. After 9/11, She was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 in the middle of college and she returned from a year at War to play basketball and graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas.

While in the reserves, she took her first coaching job as an assistant at Denison High School and in 2009, she spent another year in Iraq, causing her to leave Denison mid-season. During this year, she kept herself focused on professional growth by pursuing Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from American Military University. After returning from that combat deployment with a Bronze Star as a Battle Desk Operations Sergeant, she took over the helm at her Alma Mater, Arlington Martin HS, where over the course of the next 10 years, became the all-time winningest girls basketball coach in Martin HS’s history.

Pursuing growth opportunities, she left Martin to take on the Athletic Coordinator and Head Girls Basketball job at Mansfield High School. After taking on a new role and wanting to continue her professional journey, Brooke retired from the Army Reserves in 2022 and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University.
