Coach Christina Camacho began her coaching career at Lowell Middle School in the San Antonio ISD after earning her degree at UTSA in 1986. As the first walk-on player on the first women’s basketball team at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Camacho played from 1981-82 through 1985-86, missing out on the 1983-84 season due to injury. She helped UTSA to an overall record of 69-40 (.633 winning percentage) during her four seasons on the court, playing in 89 games. She landed her first high school head-coaching job at Burbank in 1987 and moved to Holmes (NISD) four years later. In her 13 seasons at Holmes, she reached the playoffs eight times, including four district titles and one regional title.

Camacho went to Wagner (JISD) when it opened in 2005 and led the Thunderbirds to the state tournament four times in their first 11 varsity seasons. Camacho moved to Veterans Memorial (JISD) when it opened in 2016. The Patriots advanced to the 4A state final in their first varsity season (2017-18), two years later they returned as a 5A state semi-finalist. Currently she is the Head Girls Basketball. Coach and Girls Coordinator at Judson High School. Overall Coaching record in her 37th year is 790-284. Other basketball accolades have included being selected to be one of four coaches for USA. Basketball’s 2011 USA U16 National Trials that was held at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Prior to that she was an assistant coach for the USA South team that finished with a silver medal at the 2004 USA Basketball Youth Development Festival.
