Clay Davis - Hardin - Jefferson HS BOYS
Clay just completed his 27th year in education and his ninth season as the head basketball coach at his alma mater, Hardin-Jefferson High School. He has been at Hardin-Jefferson for 19 years. Prior to his time in Sour Lake, he was the head coach at Jasper High School from 2002-2004 where he led the Bulldogs to a district championship and a regional quarterfinal appearance. His first head coaching opportunity came in 2000 at Tatum High School. In two years, the Eagles won two district titles and advanced to the Regional Semi-Finals in his second year. Clay was named Longview News Journal Coach of the Year in 2002. In his 19 years at Hardin-Jefferson, Clay was an assistant on the Hawks 2007 3A state championship team, their 2009 3A state semi-final team, and a program that made six consecutive appearances in the regional tournament. As a head coach his teams at Hardin- Jefferson have won six district championships and advanced to the regional level of the playoffs three times. They have compiled a district record of 87-11 and an overall record of 240-80 in nine seasons. In 13 years as a head coach, he has an overall record of 316-133.
