Joe Gallo leads the Merrimack College men’s basketball team with a focus on skill development and a disciplined defensive approach. Since taking over as head coach in 2016, Gallo has transformed the Warriors, guiding them from NCAA Division II to Division I competition. Under his leadership, the team has achieved significant milestones, including winning the NEC regular-season title in their first year of Division I eligibility.
Gallo’s coaching style emphasizes aggressive defense and efficient offense, both of which helped Merrimack secure the nation’s best scoring defense for two seasons. Before Merrimack, Gallo honed his coaching skills as an assistant at Robert Morris and Dartmouth, blending tactical expertise with a player-first philosophy.
