SCRIMMAGE ORGANIZATIONAL TEMPLATE (IN & OUT-OF-SEASON)
by Derek Sheridan Rustbelt Basketball Coaches' NetworkDescription
IN & OUT-OF-SEASON SCRIMMAGE ORGANIZATIONAL TEMPLATE
We used this template to organize our home & away scrimmages (in & out-of-season). It covers all aspects of hosting or preparing to travel to an organized scrimmage or tournament. This template kept us from being ill-prepared for participating in scrimmages &/or tournaments. Coaches' who host off-season & in-season scrimmages/tournaments want teams to return. Through the use of this template I could delegate duties to our staff memebers & players; so I wasn't stuck doing all of the work. THIS TEMPLATE WILL SAVE YOU PRECIOUS TIME & ASSIST IN YOU IN PROVIDING QUALITY, WELL ORGANIZED SCRIMMAGES/TOURNAMENTS.
Lessons
The Coach
Experienced coaches know that one of their frustrations is attending a scrimmage or a tournament that is disorganzed. Confusion leads to chaos. No matter if it's an informal scrimmage or a series of scrimmages (tournament) that required a participation fee; coaches expect scrimmages to be well ran, time efficient, competitive, and organized. For example, the invite/brochure didn't mention players were responsible for bringing their own water. You show up, after telling your players there would be water coolers available....then you find out that water coolers will not be utilized. So, the lines at the water fountains are long. This is just one example. The Scrimmage Organizational Rubric will ensure that the scrimmages your team attends or hosts will not be disorganized. If you are hosting a scrimmage for profit, you well know that the best business is return business. Coaches will return to scrimmages that are well ran & organized.
