Shad Reed — Defend, Rebound, Run: Turning Defense Into Offense

Description

Build a faster, more connected basketball team with Coach Shad Reed’s defensive-to-offensive transition system. This on-court clinic shows how to combine defensive progression, rebounding, transition offense, conditioning, spacing, and offensive actions into high-energy drills that keep every player involved.

What You’ll Learn:

• Defensive Progressions: Build habits through ball-gap-help principles, shell defense, communication, rotations, and closeouts.

• Defensive Rebounding: Teach players to locate, block out, secure the rebound, and immediately change from defense to offense.

• Three-Man Transition: Develop sprinting, spacing, passing, finishing, conditioning, and transition habits in a single drill.

• Four-Man Transition: Incorporate your offensive actions into defensive-to-offensive progression drills for more game-like repetitions.

• Scramble & Toughness Drills: Challenge players to communicate, rotate, defend while outnumbered, and compete through high-intensity situations.

• Offensive Actions: Use drive-and-kick, loop actions, pull-ups, spacing, and the “Boston” set to create scoring opportunities in transition.

• Conditioning With Purpose: Replace traditional running with competitive, ball-based conditioning that develops skills and game habits at the same time.

Coach Reed’s system gives you practical drills that maximize reps, keep players moving, and connect defense, rebounding, transition, and offense into one efficient practice progression. Take these drills directly to your gym and start building a tougher, faster, more connected team.
