Transition Defense

by Thomas Roijakkers
Transition Defense

Description

In this video I explain how our transition defense and offensive rebounding is organized. Transition defense starts ON the shot and it’s important that the players don’t have a “dead period” in their minds. I briefly speak about offensive rebounding. If you want to know more about offensive rebounding, you can watch the video on the importance of offensive rebounding and after actions and plays.

During this course I will go into detail about the following aspects of transition defense:

-       Basic rules
-       Organization after a make / miss
-       Drills
-       How to build up your drills

Learn why transition defense is a key phase in basketball. Transition defense is in my opinion THE phase in basketball which is most neglected by coaches. It is critical to be well organized and execute this phase of the game to take away easy baskets and high % shots from the opponent. I am pretty sure that most of us coaches spend the most practice time on the other 3 phases of the game which are half court defense, transition offense and half court offense.
