In a distinguished coaching career that spans 45 years, Rick Jones has made an enduring impact on the realms of high school and college football. Serving as a head high school coach for 31 years and a college assistant at Missouri State University for three years, Jones has achieved remarkable success. His coaching journey includes leadership roles at Edmond High School, Tulsa Union High School, Broken Arrow High School, and Greenwood High School. Boasting an overall coaching record of 317-74, Jones has secured nine state championships, five state runner-up titles, and earned Coach of the Year honors 16 times. At Greenwood, he led the team to eight state championships, three runners-up, and 12 conference championships, amassing a record of 185-26 in 16 years. Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Jones received the 2012 National Federation of High Schools Football Coach of the Year award and was inducted into the Oklahoma High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013. His accolades also include the 2013 Arkansas Democrat-Gazette State Coach of the Year, the 2016 Positive Coaching Alliance National Double Goal Coaching Award, and the 2017 Semper Fidelis Coach of the Year Award. Jones, a former player at Harding University, further solidified his legacy by being named to the Harding University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Currently serving as Assistant to the Head Coach at the University of Missouri since 2020, Jones continues to impact the football community as a speaker at clinics across 12 different states and Canada. His dedication and influence earned him the 2019 AFCA Power of Influence Award.
