Adam Austin is set to begin his third season as the quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator for Tarleton State in 2023. Under his guidance, Tarleton's passing attack has thrived, contributing significantly to the team's 6-5 record in 2022. The Texans finished third in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) with 20 passing touchdowns and averaged 240 passing yards per game. Austin's coaching helped QB Beau Allen earn the 2022 WAC Newcomer of the Year title, with Allen leading the conference in passing touchdowns and achieving notable passing yardage. Additionally, wide receivers Darius Cooper and Jaden Smith had standout seasons, combining for over 1,800 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.

Austin brings a wealth of coaching experience, having spent eight seasons at Midwestern State and one at Eastern Kentucky before joining Tarleton State. At Midwestern State, he was instrumental in developing one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II, earning a nomination for NCAA Division II Coordinator of the Year in 2017. His coaching career began after a playing stint at the University of Arizona, where he served as a quarterback. Austin has also held coaching roles at Grambling State, Marshall, and Missouri Southern State. He holds a degree from Arizona and a master's from Marshall.
