Brian Michalowski, promoted to inside linebackers coach at Oregon in January 2024, played a crucial role in the Ducks' successful 2023 season as a defensive analyst. Under his guidance, Oregon posted a 12-2 record and significantly improved its defense, ranking ninth nationally in scoring defense and 11th in rushing defense. The Ducks also led the Pac-12 in passing defense and held opponents to 10 points or less in seven games. Head Coach Dan Lanning praised Michalowski's defensive acumen and ability to connect with student-athletes, highlighting his contributions to the team's championship culture.

Michalowski's coaching journey includes roles at Oregon State, Colorado, Georgia, Memphis, and Arizona State, where he worked alongside Lanning. His international experience as a defensive coordinator for the Cologne Falcons in Germany saw the team achieve its first-ever playoff victory. Before joining Oregon, Michalowski helped Colorado's Carson Wells lead the nation in tackles for loss per game in 2020. A graduate of Arizona State, Michalowski has consistently demonstrated his defensive expertise and dedication to developing elite football programs.
