Renowned as one of the top offensive line minds in this system, Miller has previously worked with notable coaches like Mike Leach and Hal Mumme. His coaching journey includes roles as offensive coordinator at Tarleton State and as an offensive line coach at various institutions, including Mississippi State and Washington State. Miller's coaching record highlights his ability to develop strong offensive units, with achievements such as leading offenses that ranked among the best nationally in points scored, total offense, and passing offense.

Miller's coaching career spans over 25 years, during which he has made significant contributions to building successful football programs. Cody Leach, from Mississippi State and during his time at BYU, discovered a newfound interest in football's strategic intricacies, particularly drawn to the Air Raid offense pioneered by his father, Mike Leach. Cody reached out to BYU's head coach Kalani Sitake through a friend in the athletic department, seeking opportunities as a student assistant. This marked his initial steps into learning and preserving the legacy of one of college football's most legendary offenses, influenced by his father's expertise in the Air Raid system.
