Cortney Braswell joined the Cincinnati staff as the inside linebackers coach in 2023, quickly making a significant impact. Known as one of the top recruiters in the country, Braswell has a rich background in coaching and leadership, having been named to the AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute. In his first season with the Bearcats, inside linebackers Dorian Jones and Jack Dingle were among the team's top tacklers with 56 and 53 tackles, respectively, while Jonathan Thompson contributed significantly as a part-time starter with 31 tackles, four tackles for loss, and five quarterback hurries.

Before Cincinnati, Braswell spent two seasons coaching inside linebackers at the Army, where he helped lead the team to a 15-10 record and mentored standout players like Arik Smith, who won the Defender of the Nation Award in 2021. Braswell also coached outside linebackers at Appalachian State, contributing to a top-20 nationally-ranked defense and a 9-3 record in 2020. His coaching career began in high school, where he led teams to state playoffs as head coach at Ridgeland High School and Chattanooga Central High School. Braswell was a two-time all-state running back at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and started his coaching journey in 2009.
