Even the Odds: Gun Option Offense for Small Schools, Underdogs, & Rebuilds

Description

"The best team doesn't win...the team that PLAYS the best wins..."

Some schools can simply be "better" than opponents on their way to winning championships and building a program.  Other schools must be "different" in order to have a chance.  The fact is that new schools, small schools, and rebuilding programs aren't always dealt a good hand to compete with the powerhouses and dynasties they compete against.  The odds are not in their favor, but that's what makes it even more fun!

This course includes essential concepts to incorporate when building an offense to compete as the underdog.  These thoughts and ideas are meant to speed up the "building" process for programs looking to climb the ranks quickly!

The course focuses primarily on Gun Option Offense, possibly the best offense in football to win the games you should win, and a lot of the games you shouldn't!  Other concepts addressed in the course include...

-Simplifying Blocking Schemes

-Practice Planning to Maximize Game Situations

-Incorporating Special Teams into Offense

-Year-Round Training to Maximize One-Way Players

-And much more!

Jack Byrne is the Head Coach at Windham High School in New Hampshire.  Windham is a "new" school built in 2009 that climbed from lower divisions and now competes as the smallest school in the state's largest division.  After incorporating these offensive concepts, the Jags went from 0-4 in 2020, to 1-8 with four one-score losses in 2021, and finished 2022 at 6-3, hosting a home playoff game and losing to the eventual state champions.
