Brad Smithey | West Oso High School | Head Football Coach

Brad Smithey was tabbed as the new head coach at 4A West Oso High School in Corpus Christi on Wednesday. Smithey comes over from Victoria West High School where he served as the offensive coordinator last season. He fills the vacancy left by Pete Guajardo who stepped down after leading West Oso to a 4-7 record last year. Smithey has plenty of football pedigree. He played college football as a receiver at Southwestern Oklahoma State University before beginning his coaching career as the receivers coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He has also spent time as an intern with the Green Bay Packers and as the head coach of the United States under-16 national team at the International Bowl in 2019. Smithey was the offensive coordinator at Brazosport High School for three years before coming to Victoria West to serve in the same role last season
