Gordon Sammis
Offensive Coordinator, TCU
Gordon Sammis took over as TCU's offensive coordinator in January 2026 under head coach Sonny Dykes, arriving off a four-year run at UConn, where he spent his final two seasons calling plays as offensive coordinator, guiding the Huskies to back-to-back nine-win seasons, the first such stretch in program history.
Sammis got his coaching start at Monahans High School under Brent Holland, followed by stops at J.J. Pearce High School and Navarro Junior College. He then landed a graduate assistant job under Hal Mumme at Kentucky, where he also worked alongside Mike Leach, an experience he has pointed to as a turning point in shaping his coaching career.
From there, Sammis built a long track record on the offensive line, coaching at Columbia, Virginia Military Institute, and Lafayette before spending three seasons at William & Mary, where he helped the Tribe's rushing attack improve by more than 130 yards per game. He joined UConn in 2022 as offensive line coach before being elevated to offensive coordinator in 2024, a role in which he was twice nominated for the Broyles Award, given annually to the top assistant coach in college football. Under his direction, UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano threw for over 3,400 yards with 28 touchdowns against just one interception in 2025, one of the most efficient seasons by any quarterback nationally that year.
A 2007 graduate of the University of Virginia, Sammis played offensive line for the Cavaliers for four seasons before moving into coaching.
