The Coach
Hayden Mace is a seasoned American football coach with a focus on offensive line strategies and run game coordination. In December 2024, he joined Central Michigan University's coaching staff under Head Coach Matt Drinkall, taking on the role of Offensive Line Coach.
Mace served as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator at Eastern Washington University during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Under his guidance, the Eagles' offense achieved national recognition, leading in several categories, including third-down conversions (56.4%), rushing yards per game (229.3), and red zone conversions (91.1%). The offensive line was notably ranked as the top pass-blocking unit in the FCS, allowing only 1.17 sacks per game.
From 2020 to 2022, Mace was part of the coaching staff at the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), where he initially served as the Offensive Line Coach before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator in 2022. During his tenure, the Cougars' offense saw significant improvements, leading the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in rushing and ranking 12th nationally in NCAA Division II. The team also ranked in the top three in the conference for points per game, yards per game, and yards per play.
Mace's coaching career also includes a stint as a defensive graduate assistant at Utah State University in 2019, where he assisted the defensive coaching staff with daily operations.
He also served as an offensive quality control coach at Eastern Washington University from 2017 to 2019, contributing to the team's appearance in the 2018-19 FCS National Championship Game.
A native of Bend, Oregon, Mace was a standout offensive lineman at Linfield College (Ore.), where he was a three-year letter winner and earned second-team all-Northwest Conference honors. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in finance and communications.
