Joel Elliott recently joined Berry College as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Before this role, he worked at the University of Memphis, where he coached linebackers and contributed to the team's success in winning the Hawai'i Bowl in 2021. Elliott also worked with inside and outside linebackers and special teams during his tenure at Memphis, coaching players like JJ Russell to All-Conference honors and achieving high rankings in Special Teams Efficiency. Before Memphis, Elliott gained experience as a defensive graduate assistant at Marshall University, where he focused on special teams quality control and coached linebackers, contributing to the team's victories in bowl games and notable improvements in defensive performance.

Earlier in his career, Elliott was involved in coaching at Wesley College, where he helped lead the team to NCAA Division III playoff appearances and success in the semifinals. As a former player at Denison University, Elliott brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to his role at Berry College, where he continues to make significant contributions to defensive strategies and player development.
