Then he speaks on how drills should be run. You do not want to run drills on cadence like offense, but you do want to run them off a visual cue like snapping the ball. Defense is a reactionary side of the game so being able to react and adapt to situations will immensely help your linebackers. Another note, you want to begin by drilling the basics like footwork, then when the footwork is mastered, you can add into the drill for example making a tackle. That way you can drill footwork and tackling in the same rep.
