Luke Butts, a native of Antioch, Illinois, has been appointed as the new head coach for the Blue Jays Football Program at Westminster. His extensive experience includes an 11-year tenure at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he served as the defensive coordinator for seven years and linebackers coach for six years. Butts also held roles as the academic coordinator, special teams coordinator, and recruiting coordinator during his time at Lake Forest. Notably, under his leadership as academic coordinator, the Forester Football team achieved a team GPA of 3.00 for the first time in school history. His contributions earned him the position of associate head football coach in 2021.

During Butts' tenure at Lake Forest College, he played a pivotal role in guiding the team to back-to-back Midwest Conference Championships in 2021 and 2022, marking the first time in school history. This success also translated into consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament. With Butts' expertise as defensive coordinator and associate head coach, the Foresters achieved an impressive overall record of 26-6 since 2021, with his defense leading NCAA Division III in several key categories such as scoring defense, third-down percentage, total defense, and passing efficiency defense. As a result of his outstanding performance, Butts was recently recognized as one of the five finalists for the 2023 Football Scoop Division III Coordinator award.
