Mike Bloesch
Run Game Coordinator / Tight Ends Coach, University of North Texas
Mike Bloesch returned to North Texas in January 2026 to take over as run game coordinator and tight ends coach, joining new head coach Neal Brown's staff for a second stint with the program.
He arrives after two seasons at Cal (2023 and 2024). He started there as offensive line coach and run game coordinator, then moved into the offensive coordinator role before the team's bowl game that first year. Under his direction, Cal's rushing attack jumped to its best output in over a decade, fueling a standout season from running back Jaydn Ott, who ranked among the nation's top rushers. The following year, with Bloesch calling plays, Cal's offense topped 350 yards a game, took excellent care of the football, and earned a bowl trip.
This is not Bloesch's first time in Denton. He spent three seasons there from 2020 to 2022, starting as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, getting promoted to offensive coordinator and play caller in 2021, then shifting to quarterbacks coach the year after. That final season, North Texas made it to the conference title game and a bowl appearance while fielding one of the league's stingiest pass protection units.
Bloesch's coaching path started on the offensive line himself. He played the position at the University of Houston before breaking into coaching at the Texas high school level, first at Abilene Cooper, then Temple. From there he moved into college coaching, first as an analyst back at Houston, then spending several years on staff at Tulsa, where he helped multiple linemen earn all-conference recognition.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Houston and a master's degree from Lamar University. He and his wife, Lexi, have two children.
