Nunzio Campanile joined Syracuse. He spent five seasons at Rutgers in various roles, including interim head coach and offensive coordinator. He started at Rutgers in 2018 as the running backs coach, later shifting to tight ends coach in 2019. During that year, he also served as the interim head coach and playcaller for the last eight games. From 2020 to 2022, he continued as the tight ends coach and added interim offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach to his responsibilities. While at Rutgers, he coached Johnny Langan, a converted quarterback who achieved over 1,300 all-purpose yards and had the second-highest reception mark on the team in 2021.

Before his tenure at Rutgers, Campanile was a successful high school coach in New Jersey. He spent eight seasons as head coach at Bergen Catholic, leading the team to the 2017 state championship and a 60-28 record. He mentored seven all-state quarterbacks, many of whom went on to play in the NFL. Previously, he was the offensive coordinator at Don Bosco Prep, where he helped the team win six state championships and a national title in 2009. Campanile comes from a football family, having played at Paramus Catholic and collegiately at Amherst College and Montclair State. His brothers are also football coaches.
