Pedro Arruza has led Randolph-Macon College’s football program to remarkable success over his 20-year tenure as head coach, culminating in a record-setting 2023 season. The Yellow Jackets achieved a program record by winning their first 13 games and reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. They hosted and dominated several playoff games, including a notable 46-0 victory over No. 19 Ithaca. Arruza was named ODAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time and Region 3 Coach of the Year by D3football.com for the first time. Under his leadership, the Yellow Jackets have captured 14 ODAC championships, maintaining a consistent record of success with a 37-3 ODAC record since 2018. RMC finished the 2023 season ranked No. 6 in the final AFCA poll.

Throughout his career, Arruza has built a formidable program at Randolph-Macon, known for its strong defensive units and consistent performance in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets have recorded nine or more wins in each of the past five full seasons, showcasing an impressive .923 winning percentage since 2020. Arruza’s tenure includes a historic undefeated regular season in 2022, culminating in a 10-0 record and another ODAC championship. His coaching prowess has earned him numerous accolades, including multiple Coach of the Year honors from both the ODAC and the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Arruza’s influence extends beyond his coaching achievements; he has a storied playing career at Wheaton College and holds certifications in strength and conditioning, underscoring his commitment to developing well-rounded athletes.
