Perimeter Blocking in the Gun Triple Offense

by Joel Penner
Perimeter Blocking in the Gun Triple Offense

Description

This course breaks down the complete approach to perimeter blocking within the Gun Triple Offense, focusing on technique, mindset, and schematic execution. Coach Joel Penner details how perimeter play supports the option game, turning the edge into a decisive advantage through discipline, leverage, and physicality.

The course begins with the foundational attitude and teaching progression behind perimeter blocking, emphasizing aiming points, coverage recognition, and assignment clarity. Coach Penner explains how to read defensive structure and adjust blocking responsibilities based on coverage and force players.

You’ll see how perimeter blocking ties directly into pitching off the force player and attacking the box, with clear explanations of man schemes, “most dangerous man” principles, and schematic variations. Detailed film examples and drill progressions reinforce how techniques are taught, practiced, and executed in game situations.

By the end, you’ll have a structured understanding of how perimeter blocking is installed, drilled, and integrated into the Gun Triple system to create explosive edge production and consistent execution.
