Rick Bowie
Offensive Coordinator, University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)
Rick Bowie was hired as UTSA's offensive coordinator by head coach Jeff Traylor in January 2026, fresh off leading Western Kentucky to a 9-4 season and a New Orleans Bowl win in his lone year there. Under Bowie, WKU averaged more than 400 yards of offense and led Conference USA in passing (272.2 yards per game), producing All-America offensive lineman Laurence Seymore and CUSA Freshman of the Year Rodney Tisdale Jr.
Before Western Kentucky, Bowie spent 2024 as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Abilene Christian, guiding the Wildcats to their first-ever FCS national ranking, a United Athletic Conference championship, and their first FCS playoff appearance, led by quarterback Maverick McIvor, who threw for 3,828 yards and 30 touchdowns. Bowie's ACU offense ranked fourth nationally in total offense.
Bowie spent two seasons (2022–2023) as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Valdosta State, where he mentored All-America quarterback Sammy Edwards and led the Blazers to a 12-2 record and the 2023 NCAA Division II quarterfinals. In 2022, Valdosta State was the only Division II offense to rank in the top 25 nationally in both passing and rushing yards under his direction.
Earlier in his career, Bowie served as wide receivers coach (2021) and offensive graduate assistant (2019–2020) at Houston, and as a graduate assistant at West Virginia (2018). He began coaching as an intern at FIU in 2011 before spending four seasons as tight ends/quarterbacks coach at Gilman School in Baltimore, and later as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks/tight ends coach at St. Frances Academy.
Bowie played quarterback and wide receiver at Dickinson College, earning his bachelor's degree in 2012, and later completed a master's degree in educational studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2018.
