by Rudy Alvarez
RPO in the Run and Shoot

Description

This course, led by an experienced offensive coordinator, delves into how to leverage RPOs to create an explosive run game and exploit defensive vulnerabilities. Learn the specific techniques, reads, and adjustments that transformed a traditional Run & Shoot into a dynamic, high-yardage offense, including the strategic use of quarterback run RPOs and advanced read methodologies.

What You'll Learn

• How to effectively integrate first and second-level RPOs into a Run & Shoot base offense.
• Specific RPO concepts, including 'Sucker' and 'Pipe,' applied to core run plays like outside zone, inside zone, and power schemes.
• The critical process of 'keying a defender and reading the space' to make optimal pre-snap and post-snap RPO decisions.
• Techniques for quarterback run RPOs to create a 'plus one' advantage and enhance run game explosiveness.
• Quarterback footwork and running back responsibilities for successful RPO execution, including 'me calls' and proper fakes.
• Strategies to identify and exploit defensive coverages (e.g., nickel, safety rotations) to maximize RPO effectiveness and avoid turnovers.
• How to adapt RPOs across various formations, from spread to short-yardage sets, to maintain offensive versatility.

Who Is This For?

This course is ideal for offensive coordinators, position coaches (especially quarterbacks and running backs), and head coaches looking to modernize their offensive schemes. Coaches currently running a Run & Shoot offense, or those interested in adding a potent RPO dimension to their existing system, will find immense value.
