The Coach
Mike Chavez brings over 30 years of coaching experience to Colorado Mesa. He has worked at the high school, junior college and collegiate level, including at Div. I Southeast Missouri State.
During his career he has coached four players who went on to play in the NFL. During his time at Riverside City College he coached Randy Nonhoff (New York Jets) and Mike Rockwood (Buffalo Bills). Chavez coached Dan Connolly (New England Patriots) and Eugene Amono (Tennessee Titans) at Southeast Missouri State. Amono was also the recipient of the Remington Award. He also coached the offensive player of the year, Justin Lake, at Black Hills State.
Overall Chavez has coached 12 All-Americans during his career.
