Shawn Quinn is in his third season at Virginia Tech, coaching stars and nickels. He has a long history of coaching experience, including successful tenures as the head coach at Savannah State, where he led the team to a 16-6 record and an impressive 8-2 season in 2021. Prior to Virginia Tech, Quinn worked as a defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at various institutions such as Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina, and Charleston Southern, showcasing his expertise in defense and player development. His coaching career also includes stints at LSU, where he coached Tyson Jackson, the third overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, and roles at Northwestern State, The Citadel, and Georgia Southern.

Quinn began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee, contributing to their SEC East Division title and bowl appearances. He played a significant role in improving defenses and developing players throughout his career, earning accolades such as the 2019 Black College Sports Network Coach of the Year. A four-year starter on the defensive line at Carson-Newman, Quinn graduated with a degree in history and political science and later earned a master's degree from Lincoln Memorial. His extensive coaching background and leadership have made him a valuable asset to every program he has been a part of.
