His championship résumé includes eight Class 4A titles—2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2023—and the Class 5A championship in 2019. His 2010, 2017, and 2023 championship teams each finished a perfect 14–0.

Through his first 21 seasons at Rochester, he reported that 10 of his 12 quarterbacks went on to become Division I players, including Illinois wide receiver Hank Beatty. His approach emphasizes spreading the field, playing with tempo, and developing players who can execute confidently.
A former standout quarterback and Athletics Hall of Fame inductee at Illinois College, Leonard established school career records for completions, passing yards, and touchdown passes during his playing career. He brings that firsthand experience to his teaching, helping coaches develop quarterbacks, refine offensive technique, and build an offense capable of sustained success.
