Thomas Sheffield is a football coach specializing in special teams coordination, currently serving as the Associate Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator at the University of Hawaii. A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Sheffield began his coaching career in 2011 as an offensive quality control coach at his alma mater, contributing to the team's appearance in the FCS National Championship. He further honed his coaching skills at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where he coached tight ends and served as the recruiting coordinator from 2012 to 2014, during which the team amassed a 38-3 record and secured three conference titles. Sheffield's coaching journey also includes roles at the University of North Texas, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and the University of Nevada, where he consistently improved special teams performance. Since joining the University of Hawai'i in 2022, Sheffield has been instrumental in enhancing the team's special teams units, emphasizing technique and fundamentals in kickoff coverage. He holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Sam Houston State University.
