The Coach
Tony Franklin is a highly accomplished football coach recognized for his expertise in developing high-powered offenses and mentoring elite quarterbacks. Most recently, he served as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, TN. His extensive coaching career includes key offensive leadership roles at Cal Berkeley (2013-2015), Louisiana Tech (2010-2012), MTSU (2009), Auburn (2008), Troy (2007-2008), and Kentucky (2000). Additionally, Franklin held prominent positions outside the collegiate level, serving as the Head Coach and General Manager of the NIFL’s Lexington Horsemen in 2003 and as Kentucky’s Running Backs Coach from 1997-1999.
With nearly two decades of high school coaching experience across Kentucky from 1979-1996, Franklin has built a reputation as one of the most innovative offensive minds in football. His offensive systems have consistently ranked in the nation’s top 10 in passing, total offense, and scoring, and his teams have competed in nine bowl games, including a victory in the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
Franklin takes great pride in developing top-tier talent, having produced top-20 offenses at four of his five collegiate stops. His ability to refine quarterback play is evident in the success of his players, six of whom earned Player of the Year honors under his direct coaching. Most notably, Franklin played a crucial role in the development of Jared Goff, the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection. His influence on the game continues to shape the next generation of offensive playmakers.
