Travis James steps into the role of Offensive Coordinator for John Carroll University in 2023, joining Head Coach Jeff Behrman from Union College. At Union, James served as offensive coordinator for two seasons, achieving notable success in Division III rankings, particularly in areas like red zone offense and limiting sacks. Before Union, James contributed significantly to Rhodes College's football program in various capacities, including offensive coordinator, interim head coach, and roles in recruiting, video systems, athletic performance, leadership development, and branding.

Before his time at Rhodes, James honed his coaching skills at Illinois College, where he held roles as Offensive Line Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, and eventually Associate Head Coach. His tenure at Illinois College was marked by consistent success, including top rankings in scoring offense, passing offense, and red-zone offense nationally in Division III. Additionally, James began his coaching journey at Missouri Baptist University, contributing to their offensive and recruiting strategies in the NAIA. As he transitions to John Carroll, James brings a track record of developing numerous All-Conference, All-Region, Academic All-District, and All-American players throughout his coaching career.
